Spaghetti with garlic and oil recipe

Spaghetti aglio e olio—pasta garlic basic spices and olive oil—is a classic italian meal garlicky spaghetti in under 20 minutes is simple and cheap

Ingredient – 12 ounces spaghetti – kosher salt – ½ cup extra virgin olive oil – 8 garlic cloves thinly sliced – ½ teaspoon red pepper flake – ⅓ cup grated parmesan – chopped parsley


Boil a big kettle of water add 1 tablespoon of kosher salt to the water add pasta and cook according to package directions until just before al dente my took 9 minutes burst 1 white line

Four minutes after adding pasta to boiling water heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat stir in garlic for 2–3 minutes to brown reduce heat to prevent scorching garlic burst 2 white line

Add red pepper flakes if using and stir for 30 seconds after the garlic starts to color remove the oil from heat until the pasta is done burst 3 white line

After draining the pasta return the pan to medium heat add saved pasta water to oil and boil until reduced by ⅓ burst 4 white line

Stir cooked spaghetti into sauce till coated and cooked to your taste after turning off the heat add parmesan and parsley try again to mix burst 5 white line

Let the pasta soak up the sauce for two minutes before serving add additional parmesan and red pepper flakes if desired burst 6 white line
